Integrate 3 Apps

We have an App called TreePlasm, running on Linux with Python/ Django/ Mysql and a Stand-alone App (SweetPea) on Windows with Python front end and Clipper algorithm running on MSDos. There is an ancient 3rd app which runs on 16 bit Dos called LSMLMW. We wish to use TreePlasm to call and run the other two apps in Linux on various servers. (Please see [login to view URL] for some background.) Variables and data will be exchanged between the Apps. 1. Existing measurement data in the MySql database in TreePlasm needs to be extracted based on the user selecting the trial name(s) which are associated with the data, as well as the variables and age of measurement. Most of this functionality already exists- it just needs to be expanded for multiple trial selection. 2. This data needs to be prepared for the Dos analysis Apps called SweetPea and LSMLMW. The preparation is currently done using an R-script (an example attached). This script must be replaced by (to-be-developed in this project), internal Python/ Django code. 3. Some further user inputs are required for the SweetPea component- the current GUI for SweetPea is attached and the code could be adapted to be integrated into TreePlasm. 4. With all the above, both LSMLMW and the MSDos exe of Sweetpea can be run. Currently we run LSMLMW exe with DosBox given the 16 bit issue. LSMLMW derives heritabilities and genetic variance components, which are required for SweetPea a)Is it possible to still use this in the TreePlasm interface? b) Alternatively, the user can separately enter the variables (genetic variance components) which one requires from LSMLMW, by running an R code or alternative. c) An ultimate option here is to derive these variance components through building in an Anova/ GLM/ Reml or equivalent. Interested applicants should advise as to their preferred option here. 5. SweetPea should then be able to run with these inputs. SweetPea is written in XBase++ and is functional and we have the code for this. A future project may convert it to Python. The outputs are flat Text files and the resultant data is in a DBF file, which can be re-imported into the TreePlasm MSQL database.
