Hi, We usually take pictures for reference and sculpt them in Zbrush for a high realistic poly model and make the model topology in Maya for rigging and animation. Hello. There is no way to change base model to fit your character concept. Mooore easer to model from screatch . Check out my portfolio for my works if you like it write me and i model your character .

I have three years of of modeling and rigging experience with custom characters. Because you want to change the proportions of the character your base rig will need to be modified and re-skinned (rigged) to fit the new proportions. Most think it is just a matter of shrinking or stretching the character but this is not the case and it would break the rig and the deformations would not work.
