Create an If Statement to exclude image from parent category and all it's children

Hey guys, I need someone to create an if statement I can use in our WordPress theme that will exclude the featured image from a certain category, and any child categories of that parent. For example, the featured image would get excluded from all categories below that have an * by them PODCAST - All Podcasts - Featured Interviews TV & VIDEO* - All Videos* - Featured Videos* Note, the if statement should ONLY include the id of the parent category, we need your code to take into account that the if statement should apply to the parent and ALL children of the parent (TV & VIDEO) - That way, if more subcategories get added to TV & VIDEO, the if statement will automatically work for those new sub categories. Need done ASAP!
