computer hardware-based license

Create function that returns a string based on the hardware of a computer. It needs to take information from hard drive, sound card, network card, graphic card, etc. Return information in a string like this: harddrive_38438434_soundcard_08234959_networkcard_848578448 ... and so forth. The goal is to generate a different string for each computer, unless two computer have exactly the same hardware. I'd like the code in Python if possible. If not, in C/C++. The platform is WinXP. Added to clarify: The number, or data - it doesn't have to be a number, is some information to uniquely identify that hardware. For the hard drive it could be the time to which it was initialized. For the network card it could be the MAC adress. I'm not sure how to uniquely identify other hardware, such as sound cards, but that would be your job to find out.
