Ongoing management of a SQL server and DB, MS Access and MS Office integration

Hello! I am already working on the same role for a few companies already (3 from the USA and 1 from Germany), but mostly it is about Access development. Access frontend is using SQL Server as backend, from time to time I need to write SP's, views and to create new tables. Questions: 1) In what way SQL DB needs to be upgraded?
