Write an iPad application for cordinating Legal Night

Legal Night App Proposal Legal Night is a nonprofit volunteer run program where lawyers, paralegals, translators, and law students volunteer to help people who have legal issues. Client Check In: Clients start arriving at 4:30pm and check in with one of our coordinators at the doorway inside Centro San Juan Diego. The coordinator takes down the following information about each client: • Name • Phone Number • How many people are with them • Legal Issue • How they heard about legal night Once the client is signed in, they take a seat in the waiting area until their name is called by the coordinator to be matched with an attorney. Volunteer Check In: During the check in process, our volunteers arrive around 5:15pm and check in using a spreadsheet that has the following information: • Name • Law Firm/Organization • Email • Title (lawyer/student/paralegal/interpreter) • Whether they speak Spanish • Specialty Area • Are they new? Once the volunteers are checked in, they wait for the coordinator to tell them she is ready to start matching, which typically happens around 5:30pm. Matching: The check in sheets for the clients are used to match the lawyers with clients based on the legal issue of the client and specialty area of the lawyer. The name of the lawyer is written next to each client’s name. What We Need: What we are looking for is a way to put both check in processes in the app, so the coordinator can just pull up the app on the ipad and match the lawyers/interpreters with clients without having to flip through sheets of paper over and over again. If it is possible to create a way to export the data, that would be ideal. We keep very thorough statistics. We would also like to put our Legal Resource Directory on the app, so volunteers can access it on their phones or on our ipads. We currently have our volunteers sign up through SignUpGenius and our emails are sent through Constant Contact.
