The author of nine published novels, I have over fifteen years editing and proofreading experience. In that time, I have worked with all kinds of different clients - from first-time writers to the far more established - on all kinds of different projects: fiction, non-fiction, self-help books, biography/memoir, scientific and academic texts, etc.
In terms of my working practices, I will edit your personal development book in three stages. Firstly, a basic edit to eradicate any typos, grammatical errors, the repetition of words/phrases, etc (generally speaking, it's better to address the reader as 'you' rather than the more passive 'we'). Secondly, a more developmental edit/proof, focusing on structure, pacing, content, etc. And thirdly, a final read-through to ensure that your writing has that essential professional polish.
I'm a native English speaker (a U.K. national), use Track Changes in Word, and can make a start right away. Depending on the word count, I envisage completing the work within seven days and will provide an interim assessment of the book within 24 hours of receipt.
