Hello We are a boutique B&B ([login to view URL]), based in northwest Essex. Despite being currently rated by [login to view URL] at 9.8 (and 9.9 for the previous 3 years), having entirely ALL 5 bubble ‘excellent’ reviews on Trip Advisor and being awarded their prestigious Traveller Choice award for 2021 and 2022 and being nominated as a finalist in the forthcoming East of England Tourism Awards for B&B of the Year plus an impressive return visitor percentage…despite all this, we are not as full as we would like and therefore need some help to get us there! There are a few things we believe that are against us: 1. Essex – unfortunately being in Essex comes with preconceived perceptions of this much maligned county, mainly from being associations with TOWIE. Our unspoilt enclave is about as far removed as you can be from the south Essex vibe and if you are of an age to recall, the BBC series Lovejoy was filmed around here – so think rural, historic villages, beautiful countryside etc. 2. Adults only – we wanted to create a place for grown-ups, obviously this knocks out family holidays. 3. No pets – we love dogs but our dogs wouldn’t enjoy others’ pooches. 4. We have dropped our ‘B&B’ tag as we feel this has detrimental connotations (think Blackpool landladies, doors locking at 10 and horrible breakfasts) and many of our guests have said we are more akin to a 5-star hotel with a personal touch than a traditional B&B - so we have rebranded ourselves Piglets Boutique Country Stay to hopefully straddle both hotels and B&Bs on the search engines. However, we also have lots of plusses! 1. Unusual for a B&B – we have a fully licensed honour bar putting to shame many a pub and with a 60+ bottle gin library. 2. We also offer evening meals. 3. Our ‘slow’ breakfasts have been compared as better than The Savoy so we must be doing OK. 4. We have an eco-natural swimming pond which is super attractive to cold water swimmers (although it does get into the mid-20s in the summer). 5. We have luxury board and table games 6. Pétanque, Croquet, a mini gym and an infra-red sauna plus a visiting masseuse and reflexologist. 7. Masses of country walks and a lock up for ones’ bikes. 8. Within 15 minutes are three counties, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk 9. London is just under an hour by train, Cambridge 35 mins, Duxford Imperial War museum 25 mins and Audley End stately home 15 mins. 10. We are surrounded by historic towns and villages with Saffron Walden just 10 mins drive away. 11. A good proportion of our guests view Piglets as a destination now in its own right, especially in the summer, hardly moving from their sun lounger! What we need: Someone to get us into the “50 best country boutique stays” or similar in the media. Possibly visits from mature influencers (our demographic seems to be 30 something professionals from London to 50+ empty nesters) and to help us get our blogs right (we are currently re-working our website and our SEO). We only have 5 rooms so our budget isn’t huge I am afraid, so someone who can work with us on an affordable budget and on the basis that we will not solely be responsible for their yacht in Monaco’s harbour would be much appreciated!
