This research will be placed in context with additional stories from the general scientific community. The magazine will focus on medicine, computing and neuroscience. The magazine will also include artwork and media produced by the general lay and scientific public. The magazine contains highly immersive / highly interactive content and thus will be limited to digital platforms. It will not be designed for print. Primary platforms: web, tablet (ipad and android) and mobile devices. • Target audience: General lay and scientific public • Target platforms: Digital platforms Relevant details about the cover story: The cover story of the first issue of the magazine will be on "The Global Brain". This can mean a lot of various things - a quick search of google will give you a fairly good idea of what the global brain might mean. However, we want to focus on certain aspects of the global brain concept. In brief, though, the concept of the global brain refers to a moment in time when the world comes together (like a single mind) to achieve a common goal, sharing skills, resources and data etc to collectively and collaboratively achieve the major goal of understanding the brain. In discussion with possible writers, we will discuss in much more detail about the content of this piece and provide a package of content that must be used to build this story. The package will contain: - Audio interviews with scientists from around the world - A jumble of scientific notes/papers/concepts/bits of text information which may be helpful - A number of scientific articles and papers that are relevant - A rough idea of 'brief' about what we have in mind but ultimately, we want the awarded writer to take the content and creatively build the story from his/her own research of the concept as well as from our content. The piece should be between 2000 and 3000 words. The final deadline for this piece would be the 25 June 2015.
