Better Website for World Traveling Oceanographers and Students

My Oceanography Group has an OLD UGLY website. We need something new and appealing. We study ocean optics in Antarctica and the Arctic typically but also go all around the world. We have lots of pics that could be used. Dazzle me! Special requirements: 1. existing links to existing data archives, external sites, etc. should continue to work when put into new site 2. non-programmers need to be able to edit your end package, easily for years to come! 3. we can provide images to incorporate into the look and feel of the site. 4. also want a photo gallery 5. we have a logo... it should be reviewed. It might need redone 6. friendly, simple menu system we can edit. we need to be able to control the entire thing once you're done. a template website start is acceptable. 7. Clean up and make consistent the various disparate pages...using common look, feel, etc. 8. our web server is currently an old Windows Server 2003 box running IIS6. 9. a simple and beautiful site which relays a message is more desired than overly complex and flashy, get it? I'm open to many ideas as long as we get the right look and feel. What is the right look and feel? * science is cool * adventure and world travel * grad students welcome * bio-optical oceanography. new science. ground breaking research * study of plankton using optics. * lab experiments: growing plankton for energy, bio-fuel, saving the world stuff.
