European infrastructure projects schematic map

ENTSO-E is the European Association of electricity Transmission System Operators, the companies managing and operating the high voltage grids across Europe. ENTSO-E is an entity regulated by European law, and is as such tasked every two years with realising a 10 Years Network Development Plan (TYNDP), which is used by European policy makers to determine which new electricity transmission infrastructure projects to support. The TYNDP consists on an open call for candidate projets across Europe. Projects are tested in future scenarios in market and network modeling environments. About 300 proposed lines in or between European countries have been identified in the draft Plan published in July 2018. The projects are presented in an intercative map currently available here: [login to view URL] We are seeking to produce a new version of this European map, with a schematic rather than geographic approach to representing the proposed projects (i.e. simple lines rather than the current scribbles, with still a higher level than on subway maps for instance as a line crossing a mountain range is not the same as one taking an alternative easier route). Some areas have a high density of projects, which all have to be individually identifiable. The map should be much clearer, and much better loooking than the version currently used. The main objective is to produce versions usable in communication material including posters, social media content, articles, reports. We will consider depending on proposals if we want to produce as well an interactive version of the map linked to the projects database.
