I am hoping to find an industrial lighting designer able to provide design consulting and someone that might also know of reliable fabrication services in the Chicago area (or nationally) for a personal project I am attempting to complete.
A brief explanation:
I have created a rudimentary model for a table light “backplate” that is part of a larger lighting project. I am seeking assistance to design a brushed stainless steel or aluminum plate that will contain a flat custom LED lighting component (I have already completed this part) and both the existing LED lighting component and the stainless steel plate would be inserted into a larger glass housing.
The insertable backplate has a center hole for electrical wiring for the inserted custom LED component and the other holes for heat dissipation. I think?! A question to be investigated too.
Along with expertise in lighting standards, I need assistance creating a “friction tension” plate that inserts into the glass hole and sits inside the glass piece and stays in place. I am imagining the plate edge element creates friction tension pushing outward as needed, but creating tension to hold the plate (and LED lighting component) in place. I am VERY open to suggestions of how to make this happen, since I obviously have no clue....hoping to design some type of mechanism to allow the user to remove and insert the plate smoothly.
If you feel it is something you can assist with, please provide your fees to discuss and investigate options, design, and create usable drawings. As you have probably assumed, I do not have an industrial design background so you would need to tell me what is required in terms of time and fees to take this to production. Given it is a small project, I am assuming most fabricators won’t be interested, but I hoped this person or company might also know of someone to assist in production as well.
Thanks for your consideration.
Hi, I am an experienced Product designer with over 12 years in design consulting. I can also support with low volume prototyping by 3D printing or laser cutting in the US. Please check out my profile page for some of my work samples. Do get in touch on chat if you find my profile suitable to your requirement for further discussion on the project details.

Hey there, I am industrial designer and have worked on multiple lighting projects. I somewhat understand the lighting system but a bit uncertain on the friction tension part. I'd like to discuss with you to have better understanding of your concept. quite certain i can help you with the design and engineering part and can find prototyping partner as well.
Look forward hearing from you.
thanks
Hello, I can help you with the fixtures design, the friction plate design and can provide proper guidelines about how to go for manufacturing, finding correct components and also can help you with heating cooling features of the product.
this hourly rate is for my consultation and design works services.
looking forward to proceed.
best regards
Hi there, My name is Abu Shahama. I’ve read your brief and can see that you’d like to design a table light. I can provide 3D CAD model, fabrication drawing, 3D renders.
My team has 8 years of experience in industrial designing and manufacturing engineering. I can use SolidWorks to design this table light.

Hello,
Ideally for your Project there is probably a need to produce a working prototype, which makes this Project a little more challenging, esp. given the COVID situation. Project timings are dependent on the chosen design & it's manufacturing processes. There are the less expensive options through to the more expensive options (these with a better 'feature set').
Please message me to discuss & plan the Project in detail, due to there being various options. Until such calls are made, my Bid is void. The overall Project time can vary depending on this discussion.
Yours truly
