There is a huge population worldwide which gets all its information via the internet. Can any organisation wishing to progress and evolve afford to ignore that? Addressing clients using an online presence is sometimes feared, thought of as a difficult process. However, with the correct tools, any organisation or individual can use a web presence to its advantage. Sites like Facebook and Twitter can be used to 'speak' to audiences directly. Google, a search engine used by millions, can be manipulated to maximise the market presence of an organisation, and generate traffic to its website. The creation of a bespoke website tailored to company requirements can be used to 'hook' regular visitors, garner information about consumers, and facilitate the purchase of products and services.
How can a social networking site be used to 'speak' to client audiences? By setting up a Facebook page or Twitter account, an organisation can set up a two way communication with its customers. The company can detail special events, company and product information, opinions in line with the organisational ethos. An expert on social media can tweak the information so that it appears informal and on the same wavelength of its followers. The result of this is that clients and potential clients see the organisation as a 'friend' with which they identify. The benefits of this for anyone wishing to make a profit, financial or otherwise, are far reaching. Followers of a Facebook or Twitter page can even be encouraged to place free advertising for you on their own pages!

As individuals, many of us turn to search engines to find information on everything from cinema times to house prices. When you are searching for information in this way, do you go to the organisation you found on the fifth page displayed by the search engine, or the first page? Are you more likely to click on the website in the first five listings? Most people are. If you have the correct tools, you can make sure that your website gains a large number of potential customers.
