Leptospirosis Fever: Case Report

Leptospirosis is a rare zoonotic disease caused by a spirochete leptospira. It is transmitted by mammalians like rodents, cattle, sheep and pigs but rodents are the most common host for leptospira species. Treatment regimen for leptospira is penicillin antibiotics, third generation cephalosporins and quinolone antibiotics. Along with the antibiotics symptomatic treatment and supportive care is also useful in many cases.

Home Medication Review in Geriatric Patients at Tirupati-A cross sectional study

Our study concludes that patients were unaware of the Home Medication Review services and yet the majority would be very willing to accept the program. The study also suggests that elderly patient education through Home Medication Review can significantly get better patient knowledge. HMR greatly reduces the load of tertiary care services for the elderly, which in India are sadly lacking. “We cannot heal the old age, but let us protect it, promote it and prolong it”.
