Fix a codeigniter issue

I am having an issue with a CI application I need to fix ASAP (today!)
The site has a form to contact shops: insert data in DB and also send a email to the user to confirm his email and send the message. The problem come as the user does not receive confirmation email if he sent another message before, as his email is stored in DB.
I cannot find the reason a second confirmation email is not sent, and this is what I need you to fix.
In this process are involved 1 model and 1 controller.
