This contest is to design a user interface for a website. This website is a place where people can see different parts of their financial life. There are six areas: cash flow (yellow), investments (green), real estate (red), insurance (blue), legal planning (orange), and tax planning (purple). The website is meant to make it easier to see everything at once in a simple manner. To help people visualize it, each of those areas are color coordinated – please stick to these general colors.

I’m attaching four Illustrator files to show roughly how I want this laid out – please note that this is just a layout and this is primarily a contest for the design of that layout. You’ll see that there is a layout for when the menu is “in” and only icons are shown, and “out” when words are shown (when the mouse over the menu, it pops out to show the words). I like this approach, but I’m open to ideas. It may look nice to emphasize or magnify the selected menu item. You’ll see there are designs for when “real estate” is selected and when “investments” are selected. Please note that I would like the menu to somehow show that it is selected, but feel free to creatively show this.

When the user navigates between the menu items, I would like some of the interface colors to subtly shift to that color. For example, when they click on “Real Estate” I want the color tones to shift somewhat to red, but not drastically. Or when they click on “Investments” I want the colors to shift to green. You’ll notice in the attached designs how it does this with the light color changes.

I am primarily looking for an excellent design with this contest. Again, the attached Illustrator files are meant to show the layout, but not the design I want. Please be creative with the overall look and feel of it.

Please DO NOT change:
1. The color associations (red = real estate, yellow = cash flow, blue = insurance, etc.)
2. The icons and logos themselves (you’ll see a multi colored profile icon in the upper right, our green star logo in the upper left, and about 14 icons to show different options). Please just use the icons in these files.

Also, to help you with ideas, I’m attaching a Word document called “Excellent User Interface Examples.” I would HIGHLY recommend familiarizing yourself with this document. These are examples of excellent and attractive user interface designs. Please use them for inspiration, but do not outright copy them.

Please note, even though I do not necessarily need to see a desktop, phone, and tablet version of your design or different images showing the different screens, showing this is more likely to help you win and to grab my attention.

  The two different rough screen is just to show an idea of what I mean by the screen and menu changing when different things are selected. For the other four, it would just change with the colors. Don't worry about the the top menu words too much if that's what you mean.
