You are correct that the image of 100x100 is a scaled image and cannot be resized to higher sizes through CSS without losing quality. We can trace the source code in your theme to find how/where the image is resized and see if an option is available via the panel to set the dimensions - in case an option is not available, we can create a new function to overwrite the resize dimensions so that the preferred size is used.
