Create reports in Flex / XML / SQL for Flex/AIR application

This is a project to write 8 reports using a visual report tool (similar to Crystal Reports) that we will provide, and then writing report helpers in Flex that will use SQL to create XML that is used by the report. The database is complete and only has 7 tables, and will already have all sample data needed. We have many reports to complete (>100 reports) and this is the first batch we are posting. If we find someone who can do them well then we will create a large project for the rest. We have much more work of the same kind if you complete this report correctly. We will supply a test harness with source code in Flex, a PDF of what each report should look like, and a sample reports and report helpers that shows how it all works. Please see detailed requirements below for more information. ## Deliverables Overview: Our application uses an embedded SQLite database for reporting. The database is included in Flex and does not need to be installed separately. For each report you will need to: 1) Create a sample XML file that holds the data your report will use. 2) Create the report definition using a visual report tool we will provide. 3) Write an ActionScript 3 class to create XML for your report from SQL. 4) Hook up the ActionScript 3 class to test the report. -- Creating the report definition: Each report requires a report definition (.mrt file) that will be created using a report tool we will provide. You will be given numerous sample reports and can start by copying one of the samples. The report tool uses XML data to create formatted reports. For each report you must produce a .mrt file. You will need to create a sample XML file for testing your report as you create it in the report tool. You will be provided working samples of other test XML files that work with other reports to use as an example. You will be given a PDF showing exactly what the finished report should look like (copied from an earlier system), as well as what the data values should be. -- Creating the report helper You will be supplied all the source code for a small test harness application. You must compile this using Adobe Flex SDK 4.5.1. Either Adobe Flash Builder or the Adobe Flex SDK can be used to do this. Your source code for the report helper will be inserted directly into the source code for the test harness. For each report you will write a report helper, which is an ActionScript 3 class. Your AS3 class will extend a class we will provide. You will need to override 2 or three functions in your subclass. The main work required is to create XML that will be passed to your report (.mrt file). A sample report helper will be supplied. To test your report helper you will modify a single .mxml file to include your report in the test harness. Then you can run your report with our sample data and compare the output to the example PDF we will provide. -- Turning over deliverables. You will need to provide to us for each report: 1) The .mrt file you created with the report tool. 2) The sample .xml file used to test the report in the report tool. 3) The report helper ActionScript 3 class (.as file). 4) Any additional helper classes you created to work with the report helper class (.as files). 5) The modified .mxml file that hooks up your report helper class for testing. 6) A PDF of the final output from the report helper.
