recreate login process - vb6 to c#

I need someone to help recreate a non standard login process. The current system is vb6 ( not vb.net ) and i need it in c#. The vb6 takes input from a login form and check a table for user / pass. If the user exists and the pass matched, it then checks a table for access privileges. Then grants access to a specific database. need to set session variables.
I am open to using newer technology like identity manager if better. The existing vb6 code is available as a reference
