Magento is complex and very slow and always has issues. Shopify has so much complex code too and it needs more time to work and fix too. My best guess is CS Cart you can use which is best and easy and can make it run fast. so let me know from you. I dont do design but i can do the programming functionality part of this website. I worked on both magento and cs-cart. As per your requirement it is better to use cs-cart. Because it has multi vendor market place. We can discuss it in more detail.
