Human Movement Analysis

Overview The Human Movement Analysis individual assignment requires you to produce a report based on the analysis of a human movement of your choosing. The movement can come from sport, exercise, clinical or occupational settings. You can choose any movement (excluding a countermovement jump which will be the example HMA provided in class) however if you are having difficulty deciding on a movement, some examples include a squat, soccer goal kick, Rugby/AFL kick, long jump, basketball free throw, gait using a walking aid (pick one phase). The Assessment Task For the HMA will need to: Undertake background reading (using peer-reviewed literature) on your chosen area/movement. Identify the kinematic principles presented in the lectures that can be used to help better understand the movement you choose to assess. Undertake and write a movement analysis performance model (see below examples) Film your chosen action/movement multiple times using correct filming principles Analyse your action based on the above point using a video-based analysis package (analyse a minimum of 3 trials), screen shots of the analysis should be included in the report. Present means and standard deviation of the outcome variables Present strengths and weaknesses of performance/task Prioritise your errors based on suggestions presented Provide interventions to help solve the errors Present justification for further analysis based on client, goals and movement Allocation of Grades Students will be assessed on the following sections: Background to the Movement (20) Mechanical Purpose (3) Performance Model / Criterion (10) Kinesiological Analysis (10) Analysis/ Evaluation of the Movement (30) Interventions (10) Recommendations (3) Additional Analysis (4) References (5) Formatting / Writing style (5)
