I have 19 years experience of programming. Have been using java + netbeans for develop desktop applications. The applications developed by me make an extensive use of JTable or extended versions of JTable like Accounting System, Inventory Management, Payroll Mangement system using biometric attendance. Having dealt with JTable i also faced Table updation problem So I think you would be facing the same problem which i had faced while updating tables.
