The project has two parts, coding a number of web pages which collect data, perform an insurance premium calculation and store the information to a MySQL database.
**1)** The first part of the project is to provide a quotation for property insurance. The first step of this is to obtain a rate drawn from a table (which I will initially supply in MS Excel format). The table column is determined by the type of property being insured (e.g. rented, bedsits etc). The table row will be determined by the post (zip) code of the property to be insured.
The data in the resultant cell is then multiplied by the buildings sum insured to produce a gross premium. This is then subject to various simple loadings/ discounts resulting from tick boxes etc. to produce a net premium.
An online payment system will **not** be required.
**2)** The second part of the project is to allow the online sign up of affiliate websites.
Affiliates will be asked to complete a simple form, agree to the usual T&C etc and subsequently be given a unique ID and hyperlink. They can then use their hyperlink from their own website to link to the property insurance calculator.
Subsequently, users which are brought to the website from an affiliate will bring with them an identifier, which is attached to their record. Affiliates can log onto their management screen and to view data on clients that they passed on to the website.
A number of management web pages are also required to view quotations and affiliates details. These will need to include simple maintenance features, such as password reset for affiliates, rates in the calculator matrix and loading/ discount defaults in the final calculation.
The project only requires the hard-coding of the web pages and no cosmetic/ design features (which we will add afterwards).
