We are a small flooring sales and installation business. For our web site we would like a flooring cost estimate calculator. I imagine it working like this:
The screen would have boxes for width (box for feet, box for inches), length (box for feet, box for inches), and unit cost with two radio buttons, one for “Per Square Yard?? and the other for “Per Square Foot??
The customer would enter the length and width of the room.
The customer would check a radio button to indicate whether the unit cost is per square foot or per square yard.
The calculator would figure the area and price in both square yard and square feet.
For example, customer enters:
15 ft by 10 ft at $10.00 syd
Calculator answers:
Total Average Price Estimate: 150 sft or 17 syds = $170.00
Average Unit Price Estimate: $10.00/syd $1.11/sft
Or, if customer enters:
10 ft 6 inches by 18 ft 9 inches at $3.45 sft
Calculator answers:
Total Average Price Estimate: 197sft or 22 syds = $679.85
Average Unit Price Estimate: $30.89/syd $3.45/sft
I want the calculator ready to go, making the computations as described above, with instructions so I can add it to the page as well as change colors, fonts, cell/box sizes, etc. to match a web site currently under development.

Wow, I am so ignorant about this stuff ... it's going on our web page. I want to be able to install it myself as said above. I guess it needs to run in the major browsers? Would it be javascript?
