Let’s unite together to build an app to fight Covid

INDIA is battling with one of the worst crisis ever witnessed in our lifetime. I urge the freelancer community to let’s get together and build an app to organise our healthcare and emergency services system which has been broken down. I along with my friend from California have been working on collecting data accurately using ML from various spreadsheets floating around, telegram apis, Twitter apis etc. We had started to setup a center as well in Delhi to coordinate sos requests from patients. But the sheer magnitude of requests and time it’s consuming to respond with our limited infrastructure we have failed to handle even 0.001% of them, moreover every now and then few messages just keep breaking our hearts. To find the solution we came across an open source app developed from Stockholm last year- [login to view URL] It basically helps in raising huge army of volunteers, they would thus be in better position to help their nearby people who are in crisis. Simple requests can be handled like providing food, getting groceries for elderly, or calling 100s of numbers for them if a person needs say oxygen, bed, etc. Or a more active volunteer can just give us the info about the facilities in his area like hospitals, oxygen plants, medicinal availability etc. Or just be an idle volunteer a dot on the map which would be comforting enough to many that someone is there to help nearby or maybe well just pen a moral boosting letter to a complete stranger battling with depression or Be a friend to a kid who lost his parents. Also the project should not end here volunteering is much needed in our society as we know our governments have not attained the required capacity to fulfil basic needs. We are still a developing nation so it’s a need to be part of that development. After our victory there could be future endeavours like educating children, cleaning streets, planting trees, building something together for community, painting walls, etc. etc. there could be endless opportunities to make positive social impact. Currently we require volunteers to brainstorm ideas, fix the GitHub app, add few features in it tailored to the needs making it more user friendly by design changes. Currently we r looking forward to people who could work for free as we are saving funds to setup a call center kind of war room to coordinate tasks. But we promise if decent donations are generated afterwards we would surely transfer payments for the help. For now small token amount of Rs 1001 has been deposited in open contest posted as well.
