Canterbury Film Society is based in Christchurch, New Zealand. We are a non-profit organisation that provides weekly film screenings in the central city. [login to view URL] We showcase a wide range of films, including classic, cult, arthouse, and world cinema. We welcome new members of all ages and backgrounds, but starting next year we want to focus on attracting people in the 40–60 age bracket. People who have a stable work and family life, kids have grown up. Have done some travelling around the world and have close family members who were able to experience the classic film era. The new logo must target this specific demographic first and foremost. We don't care about any particular style, e.g. minimalist, pictorial, as long as you truly think that it will appeal to these people the most. Our secondary goal is to increase our profile in our community. Christchurch is a relatively small city so there are limited options for venues, sponsors, etc. So the new logo should look modern and professional so that these other businesses/organisations will be proud to work with us. You don't have to include any visual reference to Christchurch in the logo. It's more important to have a visual element or style that is related to film/cinema. Our current venue is actually an art gallery, but the society has been in various cinemas in the past. The new logo is for next year so this isn't a rush job, we don't need a 1-day turnaround. Quality is more important and speed. Colours can be anything but must look good in greyscale/black.
