We need an assistance from a specialist in AWS and/or linux optimisation. We've got quite powerful infrastructure using RDS, Elasticache Redis, S3 and EC2 for a few websites (about 20). The websites are very low traffic, yet with the growth of the virtual hosts nginx significantly slows down. We're currently running newrelic on the instance, however, nothing very significant comes up. Therefore we're looking for a specialist who can optimise the server. Our suspicions are: - either server has network problem or - nginx slows down significantly with more virtual hosts and there needs to be improvement to the way the whole server works. -----IMPORTANT----- This project is only consulting part, all we need is your advice on what should be done. Winning this project gives you the preference in the second part - actual server changes. At this stage though, we need to find out what is the issue, what is the solution and what are the implications and costs connected to it.

Hi, greetings from a Germany based freelancer with ten years of experience in (mostly Python/Django) full stack web development and twenty years as Linux system and network administrator. To be honest, AWS/EC2 sometimes seems to have unpredictable capacity problems, especially in the "rush hours", instances can become extremely slow, even the expensive high CPU / high mem ones. I have a dozen of customers who moved away their large scale web apps from EC2 to dedicated infrastructure - cheaper and faster. But just to keep that in mind - depending of the complexity of your app, it can also be fine and work smoothly on AWS.
