Google Sheets sidebar to find and populate particular rows

I am building a simple inventory system to track holdings over time. I have part names and numbers, and a range of inventory values for each, as in this sample:

I would like a custom sidebar to add to this and similar sheets, with two core functions:
1) I enter a part number into a text field, and a newvalue into another text field, and push enter. The sidebar populates the leftmost-unfilled-column of the correct row with newvalue.
2) I enter a part number into a text field, push enter, and the sidebar displays the current inventory for this.
