I'm looking for both a website designer and developer to help me build a personal website. The idea of the site is to be a travel blog of sorts, but it'll be more of a photo-based blog than a text-based blog. I've done some preliminary research on popular website builders, but none of them seem to have exactly what I'm looking for at first glance. If you think there's one of them that does suit my needs and you're able to set it up for me, that works for me too.
I've attached some VERY CRUDE mockups --- I'm not a designer so I just threw some stuff together as an example of layout, but please feel free to completely redesign everything. Also the site must work on mobile devices and look okay--this mockup is geared toward desktop so the features might need to get moved around for mobile.
The site is called Kosmopawlitan and will be at kosmopawlitan.com. I'd like the site to use an existing CMS like wordpress if possible, or anything that would make new content easy to add. I'm do backend software development for work and I barely know anything about web programming beyond really basic html/css.
I'll go over the key features of the mockups I'd like implemented.
Homepage:
Header - the header should have basic header information and a search bar (which can be used to search for tags in the images)
Footer - not really drawn out in the mockup but it should have a typical footer with contact and social media info, etc.
The main page will have a slideshow at the top to display unique experiences that one can have around the world. Main features to note:
--The slideshow must be filterable by tags on the individual photos (sample filters displayed below the main photo).
--The slideshow should be able to embed and play videos (my videos are all hosted on Vimeo) - some of the content will be in video form, not photo
--The photo must be able to hold a caption like in the mockup.
--I'd also like the slideshow to display the photos in a random order for a preset group of filters as the default whenever someone visits the page, so it won't show images in the same order every time.
--The slideshow will autorotate, but there will be an option to pause it and buttons that will move it forward and backward.
--There should be options to view photos in grid form and in list form (list will also include the text from the caption)
--Underneath the slideshow will be some explanatory text.
--There should also be the option to add multiple other sections (such as the photography section below the main one) that follow a similar format.
--I just put a larger version of the main photo under the top one for simplicity and because I don't know anything about design, but you can design the slideshow in whatever more aesthetic way you'd like (like I wouldn't mind if it showed a preview of the prev/next photos under the main photo if possible)
When a user clicks on any of the photos in the main slideshow, it will go to the experience detail page, which is also very crudely mocked. This page might have a slideshow at the top for various images from that experience, or it might have a static photo/video at the top and then more videos along with description further down. I know these photo examples look terrible so feel free to redesign everything.
Also on the main page, the photography section will not link to detail pages when clicked on like the main slideshow, but rather it will open a large preview of the image. It will just be a slideshow with captions, but it should also have filter options (not displayed on mockup)
To ensure that you've read my description, please start your message with the word CATS. Also please make it clear through your description that you've understood my requirements for the main slideshow, such as the functionality that is required and the ordering of the photos.
Sorry one more requirement I forgot to include in the original proposal:
--the photos/videos that will be in the slideshows can all be of varying sizes (such as in the mockup the difference between the images in the experiences slideshow and photography slideshow--one is horizontal and one is vertical), and the slideshow must be able to accommodate photos of any dimensions without cropping
