Hi, I have gone through your requirements. As per my point of view MS Access database would be perfect for this. Why MS Access: Speed up your query. As you mentioned you need multiple reports with date filters, for this MS Access database query will be more faster than excel. Report visualisation: In Access database I can create desired reports with excellent view. You will be able to export those into pdf or excel as per requirements. Also you can send them to email. I would love to chat further about your project - I am not 100% clear on one month, two, month, three month date. I assume this means reports due within one month, within two months, within three months? In this case on the result sheet you might have say three separate tables? Projects due in one month (or less), projects due within two months, and projects due within three months? Depending on how you would like to lay this out it could be delivered with a series of pivot tables which are then automatically refreshed on open (usually my preference as it keeps coding to a minimum, which makes your workbook more flexible - you can get someone to change things without breaking code). However, I suspect in this case it may layout much nicer with some more automation (I'm happy to provide you mock-ups to demonstrate the difference).
