Excel Guru for Scheduling Aid

I am a member of a project team creating a scheduling aid for pediatric cardio vascular surgery patients. This is an advanced cardiovascular unit which services patients across the United States. Sometimes patients must cancel due to a change in health status or for logistical reasons. When a patient cancels, it is extremely important to find a suitable replacement patient to ensure valuable operating and surgeon time does not go unutilized and another patient can receive a potentially life-saving surgery. To assist in this effort, the idea is to utilize advanced filtering techniques to take data points from a master excel sheet (Master Checklist) tracking multiple variables about a patient and create a series of lists on another sheet prioritizing patients by next scheduled surgery who satisfy the critical variable selected from the master sheet. The master sheet will contain all patients, past and present, so the filtered lists must be smart enough to eliminate patients which have already completed their surgery. The filtered lists will provide a quick visual aid for the schedulers to find the best replacement candidate by observing the lists of relevant critical variables. The Master Checklist will also populate a calendar sheet (provided) with details about the surgery.
