The persons who are all having experience in strength of materials, finite element analysis can reply for this. I have experience in stress analysis using hand calculations for wings of airbus A320 series aircrafts. I have 12+ experience in hand calculations, and some understanding but almost no experience in FEA. Based on a brief desciption of project that you have mentioned, it appears you need more of hand calc kind of work, something in which i can help.
