Hello Are the relay connected to microcontroller with shift registers? The sequence can be sent to the shift registers from a pin which would updated the relays one after another. If the relays are connected to a bulbs, you can see the pattern moving. I have made a led box with arduino before. It should take 2 days to complete your project. If I understand you need a microcontroller able to turn on 100 switches at any time in any sequence, if that is the case I will propose a 3 MM5450 serial shifter for this kind of application, each driver can handle 33 outputs using serial transfer communication, a clock an Data.
