We are looking for an electrical engineer who has embedded and/or CAN BUS (vehicle CAN networks such as J1850, J1939, etc.) experience to assist in identifying and reading messages (IDs) on vehicles we perform upfit and integration services on. This practice is allowed by both GM & Ford as we have already contacted them for best practices and approach. While they do not provide a list of the IDs needed, they support upfitters who can decode and use these messages (in a read only fashion) on their vehicles. Technicians here can assist with grunt work of gathering data, we require guidance, validation and assistance in integrating these messages into our current J1939 based protocol system. Additional work may include design of an interface gateway to move messages onto our control device BUS. Attached are some background documents to further provide examples of what we are trying to do. Initial vehicle shall be a Chevrolet Tahoe, decoding GMLAN messages for the following signals (read only into our J1939 network): Park, Brake, Reverse, Door Open (all), low beam headlights.

Hi, I am a post graduate power electronics engineer and having very good experience in product design and development. I am excellent in embedded design & programming using pic, dspic controllers and MATLAB codding for Power projects, Boot loaders, Bluetooth & GPS designs, CAN communication, EEprom. UART , RF circuits ,Protocols for networking, wi-Fi routers,OBD diagnosis with CAN bus protocols, Electrical vehicles and AC drives, stepper motor controls. I designed sine wave inverters for standalone and grid tie Inverters. I designed projects like Off line UPS up to 3 KVA, 5kW motor controller for electrical vehicles ,synchronous rectifiers, Solar MPPT chargers, Solar trackers, Battery chargers ,Grid tie inverters design with PLL and feedback control circuit emergency light of 66W and Online UPS control cards, Battery Charging power supplies, LED drivers for PWM controlling and dimming, SMPS, Power supplies. Dear Sir, Thanks for sharing such an informative documents with your job description. I am an expert in embedded systems with more than 15 years of experience in design and development of embedded products and their prototypes. I have worked in smart metering, wireless sensors, home automation and automotive. I have worked alot in your required field. I have even in my review (may be among the first five) a job of 1000$ about completing an OBD-II interpreter for cars. That project included support for legacy cars (from 1996) with PWM/VPWM using J1850 protocols, KWP2000, ISO9141 and latest IEC15xxx CAN protocol. I myself developed the hardware, gadget/gateway for OBD-II port data transfer. J1939 is for Light duty commercial BUS/Freight trucks. STN is a good chip but we can also use ELM327 or even our custom solution. Contact me for more discussion.

There is experience in designing an on-board computer and reading OBD data. Specify where you want to record the received data, form factor of the product, etc.
