Our colleague Prof Matthew Walters said “the award of the prize will help to emphasise the profound biological effects of hypoxia and its therapeutic potential. “ Nobel Laureate in 2019 Peter Ratcliffe who trained as a nephrologist said in my telephone call with him, “ IH impacts on so many cells including dendritic and many tissues including nervous ones with the motor neuron dendrite and muscle tissue and therefore has significant therapeutic potential. We`ve only scratched the surface on the therapeutic potential of intermittent hypoxia which has been unappreciated until now.”
