Design Two to Three Original Work Products You will need to choose either two to three original, professional work products from a previous course or you will need to design two new original, professional work products that can be market tested among members of the target public. You will need to work with me at the beginning of the semester to identify the work products that will be the focus of this semester-long project. Work products can include a wide-variety of materials such as web pages, flyers, Internet banner ads, brochures, or feature articles. Market Test of Work Products You will need to market test EACH of your work products. You will need to hold two focus groups, each with at least six people, or conduct 12 in-depth interviews. You will be responsible for all aspects of data collection, which includes: recruiting members of your target audience, reserving a room for the focus groups/interviews, and holding and audio recording of the focus groups/interviews. You will need to save the audio recording and submit them with your final project. You will need to transcribe the audio recording and submit the transcripts with your final project. I encourage you to use a transcription software, like Express Scribe, to help you transcribe the focus groups. Log of the Message Revision Process You will need to type a 1 to 2-page summary of each market testing session. You will need to clearly identify the feedback you received from participants, and the corresponding changes you made in your work products. You will need to turn in a log of the revision process, which should include a chronological account of the revisions that you made based on market-testing. To complete this portion of the assignment you can either submit a diary that details the revisions you've made (for example, if you've made changes on a Web site) or you can submit all of the drafts of your messages labeled and in chronological order. Final Revised Work Products You will need to prepare the FINAL, REVISED, PUBLICATION READY work products. These elements MUST be publishable and the message must be accurate, entertaining, and informative. The final product must be exactly as it would be if you were submitting it for a formal campaign. Campaign elements will be evaluated for: accurateness of message, appeal to target audience, professional quality, and use of theory. Spelling and grammar errors will result in significant deductions from your final score.
