About Yum Bug At Yum Bug we make it easy to cook delicious, healthy and sustainable insect meals at home – we currently do this through our easy-to-use cooking kits delivered through your door and our fun recipe videos. We’re on a mission to change perceptions and take edible insect’s mainstream. To do this Yum Bug is building a world-class team of fun-loving, ambitious people, and we’d love you to be one of them! Your role will be to help us gain attention in the press through articles, appearances, and features. Why Insects? Insects are one of the most sustainable proteins in the world, and we believe that they can play a huge role in our fight against climate change. They use minimal resources and provide maximum nutrition; in comparison with beef, insects provide 3 times more protein and emit 1800 times less CO2. Your role: For insects to become mainstream, they must be seen in the mainstream! This means Yum Bug and edible insects need to be promoted in major news outlets and feature on shows such as Good Morning or the One Show. Your role will be to help us feature in as many, high profile, news outlets as possible. As a benchmark we would be aiming for 3-5 features a month depending on the size and credibility of the news outlet. We would expect you to write features and pitch newsworthy pieces to outlets, leveraging existing connections into the press. What you need to do the job effectively: - Believe insects are the future of food, and have a strong desire to help create a more sustainable food system. - Eye for detail and great written English - Creative and adaptable storytelling style for features across different types of press - Great ability to pitch stories - Existing connections into UK press outlets or proven track record Who you are: The type of person you are and your values are just as important to us as your experience and skills.
