Hi,
How many times have you come out of the movie theater and overheard people exclaiming, “It wasn’t like the book at all!”?
There’s a reason for that. They are two completely different animals.
I want to make sure that’s out in the open. I will tell the same story in the screenplay as you have told in your novel, but the structural requirements of a screenplay will, in all likelihood, require the material to be rearranged in order to make your story hit all of the beats in the script at the right places. Parts may have to be left out.
This proposal is for a 90 page script—the current ‘norm’ for Hollywood right now.
This proposal is for a first draft. Any subsequent drafts will incur additional charges to be negotiated.
I can produce the deliverable in your choice of Final Draft 10, Movie Magic 6, or a Word 2016 document.
My best estimate is that I’ll need 3 days to read and markup the book, 3 days to do the outline, and 5 days for each of the acts: Act I, Act IIA, Act IIB, and ACT III or 26 days from receipt of Notice to Proceed*.
I will forward a Word 2016 document of each day’s work for your review and comment except during the reading and markup phase of your book and during the development of the outline. The outline would be due for review on Day 6*.
*The day count does not include any turn-around time you require to review the work-to-date.
