This sounds like a great project to take on as you are a business starting form scratch and it would be great to be able to train you in how to maintain your books. In my last position my company dealt with several freelancers so I am familiar with liaising with freelancers and helping them to organise their expenses and billing at an acceptable standard. To be honest there are a lot of factors to take into consideration with this project and it is hard to estimate the time and cost of the project. The following are my initial questions: Are you going to function as a Sole Trader or are you trying to establish a Limited company? What types of services do you provide? Do you plan on using a digital accounting package? Do you want to have an ongoing bookkeeper or do you wish to be trained and then maintain the accounts yourself? Where are you located in the UK? All of this will obviously have a huge bearing on not only the time this will take but also the cost. It would be really nice to be able to speak with you and get a better idea of the lay of the land. I look forward to hearing from you.
