Loadbalancer.org is a 20 year old IT company that looks and feels more like a recent start-up. This year we are undergoing a significant rebrand incorporating a new logo, potentially a new color scheme and a review of our biz personality and tone of voice.

The company, as the name suggests, provides load balancing technology (also known as Application Delivery Controllers or ADCs) for end users and specialist providers of technology products. The products are supplied as hardware units or as software for use on virtual servers or in the cloud. We are strictly a B2B operation.

A summary of what we do…

“We provide unbreakable load balancing solutions - built on open source - for technology vendors and IT teams. And we give them the flexibility they need to future-proof their solution or environment, so load balancing will never be their problem again.”

Despite the .org we are a for-profit business and the name is a legacy of our open source roots and the unavailability of a suitable .com. Moving forward we will stick with the name of loadbalancer.org, however, the .org may be dropped in the future so it is important that any logo design doesn’t include the .org or if it does that it can be dropped or swapped without disrupting the logo design.

The logo can break our name up if required so for example having load and balancer on separate lines is possible. An abbreviation, i.e. LB is also an option.

The logo can include an icon or other graphic device if required

The logo can include a strapline/tagline if required - for example “zero downtime”

A major problem with our existing logo is the very long aspect ratio

In terms of brand personality we are pivoting towards an archetype of jester/outlaw from our traditional base of everyman/caregiver. To be clear, traits such as customer-first thinking and honesty will still be important to the brand but we want to introduce a flavor of anti-establishment and contrarian thinking with an element of fun.

Hello, thank you for all the entries so far! We are looking for logos that are clean, modern, and have a tech edge to them as well as paying attention to our brand archetypes check out this part of the brief here: ‘In terms of brand personality we are pivoting towards an archetype of jester/outlaw from our traditional base of everyman/caregiver. To be clear, traits such as customer-first thinking and honesty will still be important to the brand but we want to introduce a flavor of anti-establishment and contrarian thinking with an element of fun.’

Also, we are wanting to get away from 'the dots' that we have in our current logo and have something completely different. I hope this helps any future entries.
